Okay we are not going to really mention Christmas shopping in full force as yet, but let’s face it, if you have been in any of the department stores in the last few days you may have seen signs that these businesses are gearing up for the shopping season. This means that you need to start thinking about a little bit of extra shopping security, if you happen to be one of those organized Christmas shoppers.
One of the biggest factors to think about at any time when you are out shopping is the safety of your vehicle. As the shopping rush increases it also gets more difficult to find the ideal parking spot. You are going to find that you are going to have less choices of prime spots.
When you are looking for a prime parking spot it isn’t just those that offer convenience that you want to consider. You want to also find one that is well lit and not obscured from open view. If you park in a darker area, or a spot that provides an ideal atmosphere for a car thief to break into it then your vehicle is going to be a prime target.
While you don’t want your vehicle to be broken into, or stolen, you also have to think of your personal safety. When you are carrying a lot of parcels you are not going to be holding on to your purse as securely as what you normally would, and this could make you vulnerable to a snatch and grab crime.
Take a few extra moments before leaving the store to make sure you have your car keys in hand, and that your parcels are easily handled so you don’t leave yourself vulnerable.
For the most part the thieves who participate in this type of crime will look for those who are the most vulnerable. They will first case out the most obscure parking areas, then lay in wait for the most vulnerable type of targets are. They will prey on women, or older people as they don’t want to have to deal with a confrontation which is going to slow them down from getting what they want, or them being apprehended.
Be alert as you proceed to your vehicle after shopping. If you see someone who just seems to be loitering around then do not proceed to your vehicle until you are absolutely sure it is safe to do so. Instead return to the store and bring this incidence to the attention of security.
